Okay so listen.
Y'all know just how much "Leah luh da kids". So much so she created a nonprofit for those like her her love to serve and mentor youth, specifically teens in urban communities. Suburban kids need love too! (I hear you and I know -- certainly do love them)
In November of last year, I changed the name of my previous mission "Be The Difference" to Urban Mentor , a material resource hub for mentors and youth workers who serve urban communities. Keeping the mission of "Be The Difference", Urban Mentor will provide the tools to do just that -- be the difference as a mentor.
I had this whole Type-A plan and strategy for how 2018 was going to look and be structured for Urban Mentor to begin to make our impact as a non-profit startup and BAM -- unemployed. Yep, terminated from my job so *wheww* there goes my funding, right? PRIDE had me wallowing in my lack and wanting to fund the initial stages of my vision. PRIORITY had me place my needs (living expenses) over my desire to launch. And well, HUMILITY came swooping in to save me from my own foolish demise of thinking I could build something for the community, without community. HA! Just Foolish.
That being shared, nothing would mean more to me than if you would consider donating towards the fulfillment of launching Urban Mentor as a legitimate and legal 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Why such a lofty goal, you ask?
We have several needs in order to make sure we are legally legitimate such as copyright and trademarking of our name and logo; as well as tangible for supporters (like you) and their network with needs such as online presence (websites cost money), digital and print marketing materials (videos, merch & swag y'all).
The Breakdown:
- 501(c)3 Filing Fee $400
- Trademark Fee $275
- Copyright Fee $55
- Website Hosting (1 year) $300
- Email Hosting (1 year) $60
- Video Filming & Production $1000
- Marketing Materials $1000 (Flyercards, Stickers, Buttons, T-shirts, Caps, Merch, etc.)
