New Office and Equipment

We have all been there: Fresh out of college, degree in hand, scouring help wanted ads and doing rounds of interviews. Your head is full of knowledge and desire, but the job market just isn't there for your skills yet. What are you to do? If you are anything like us you realize there are in fact two problems: You both want a job but also realize that there needs to be jobs in the community to have. The only way to fix both problems at once is to take a risk and go headfirst into the unknown. We've taken that risk, plunged in, and begin working on our own company so we will be able to give back to the community; To create jobs where there were none, and to have a blast while doing it.

Bloodleaf Studios, LLC, is a recently formed video game and software company which will specialize in video game development, software development and technology consulting services. It is owned by University of Advancing Technology (UAT) students Jacob Lanthier and Jeff Sandefur along with Art Institute graduate David Houser.

We've recently acquired office space at the AZ TechCelerator, a business incubator in Surprise, AZ. This is exciting news for us as it means we are able to move away from working at separate locations -- school computers or from home -- into one central location to help facilitate our work. We also hope to be able to expand our 13 member team in the coming months to fill this space, bringing the aforementioned jobs to the community.

This new office also brings new responsibilities, such as needing new computers, software, and having to pay for various costs that come associated running an office. We've come to GoFundMe to seek donations to help defray some of these initial costs.

That isn't to say we're going to just sit around waiting for these donations. Bloodleaf's video game team is also working on multiple exciting projects, which will be the genesis of their video game portfolio:

* Theseus: First Flight, a 2D side-scrolling avoid-and-collect game, has been released for the Android platform and is available for $.99 on Google Play . A 10-level demo is on Kongregate. In the game you control the ISC Theseus, a space fighter that has to collect realignment rings while avoiding various obstacles else it will fall out of lightspeed and be destroyed.

* Draco the Savior is a soon-to-be released side-scrolling shooter for the Android platform. In it you take control of Draco, knight-errant of Queen Tiamat, sent to defend the kingdom from the evil dragon lord Kingu, and the human forces of Cyrus the Great.

* Their next release-to-market game, The Theseus Effect, has been in development for several months, and excitedly will be released by December 2013. The game was shown to the public at the Phoenix Art Museum, in conjunction with the University of Advancing Technology, and at the Art of Video Games exhibit the weekend of August, 23rd, 2013. A previous version of The Theseus Effect was shown at this past Phoenix Comicon in May.(Development updates can be found at the following link: http://bit.ly/theseuseffect)

We recently acquired office space at the AZ TechCelerator, a business incubator in our city. We're excited at the opportunity this provides but also realize the responsibilities the new space brings with it. We had a blast once we were here, though it took just as much hard work to get it set up (which you can see below) as it did getting all the necessary pieces to fall into place.

These are a stack of cabinets shelf sides. In all, 30 sets of them were removed.
A cleaned up room, ready to have OUR stuff put in.
