HCC Officer Erika Coy Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Campaign Update (2/3):  Approximately one week ago, The Soccer Learning Center, and the U.S. Soccer Heroes 501c3 organization began a campaign to assist Hudson County Department of Corrections officer Erika Coy during her courageous battle against Stage IV renal cancer.

We have just received the tragic news that Officer Coy passed away early this morning (2/3) surrounded by her family and friends at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Our campaign now takes on a new urgency this morning as Officer Coy's four young children are left without their loving mother - and her devoted husband is left without his wife.

We have increased our campaign total to $50,000 to assist the family with the costs of any final arrangements and to help establish an educational fund for Officer Coy's children.

This morning, we ask you to help in any way that you can.  Your donation is appreciated and will go directly to help the Coy family rebuild their lives after this unfathomable and sudden loss.

Original Campaign Posting:

Erika Coy is a wife, a mother, and a tough-as-nails Corrections Officer at the Hudson County Jail in Kearny, New Jersey

Today, this 39-year old from Wallington, New Jersey is tackling a new battle - the fight for her life.  In November of 2015, Officer Coy was diagnosed with Stage IV renal cell carcinoma (RCC) or kidney cancer.  Just one month later, the disease spread to her brain and lungs.

Her treatment is aggressive and ongoing at Hackensack University Medical Center.  Her husband remains by her side while also caring for their four beautiful children - ages 14, 12, 8 and 6.

The U.S. Soccer Heroes, a New Jersey based 501c3 organization that helps law enforcement officers and their families in times of extreme need, has verified the details of this case and have agreed to help organize this GoFundMe account.

Officer Coy will be out of work for the forseeable future - as will her husband.  Her fellow officers have donated their own vacation days to help keep her paychecks coming - but just one paycheck won't be enough to keep their household going.

Through a fundraiser and this GoFundMe account, we hope to raise $15,000 which will be directed toward the payment of the family's mortgage for the next six months.

Any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated by the Coy family, fellow HCCO officers and The U.S. Soccer Heroes/Soccer Learning Center organization.
