Uganda Refugee Mission Trip

Grace and peace to you in the Name of Jesus Christ! I hope this letter finds you well.
I am writing to share about an opportunity I have to participate in a short-term mission trip with St. Johns Parish from October 16-25. We will be visiting the Diocese of Northern Uganda in Gulu, Uganda. Our team includes: Rev. Elizabeth Bumpas, Bill Anderson, Meemee Williams, Jason Yandle, Alex Goyette and Dana Williams.
This is the sixth team to visit Uganda from St. John’s Parish since 2009, when a partnership with the Diocese and Bishop Johnson was begun. At that time, northern Uganda was recovering from 20 years of devastating civil war. Much progress has been made since then and St. John’s partnership over the last 9 years has assisted in many ways. We will visit some of these projects but mostly we will spend time with our brothers and sisters in Christ, mutually encouraging one another in our Christian walk.
Our itinerary will include visiting the following:
• Janani Luwum Theological College which St. Johns supports
• St. Philip’s Health Center which has been expanded to include a maternity ward through St. Johns
• The Fathers’ House orphanage
• The Women’s Development Center
• Children of clergy who receive scholarship support from St. Johns
• South Sudanese refugee camps on the border of N. Uganda
• Christ Church Gulu for Sunday worship
The team is responsible for raising $5000 for our lodging, food, ground transportation for all six of us. Would you please consider making a contribution to help meet this need?
Though financially poor, the people of the Diocese of Northern Uganda have a rich faith. We look forward to learning much from them. We are excited to able to serve the Lord in this way; to serve Him alone who is worthy.
