Recovery Box &Wellness Box

Hi! I am Ashley, founder of TheAddictMom , & I am an Addict. By sharing my story and the stories of other's stories, I'm getting the truth out & spreading awareness of substance abuse. I plan to change how society views addiction & mental health issues & to one day accept the fact substance abuse disorder IS a mental illess. In doing this, I must help the addicts & people who have chosen to start their recovery. 

Detox.

That is a terrifying word to many. Terrifying and disgusting. Many addicts go into detox with nothing. No toothbrush, no water, no food, no pads or tampons, no blanket. Nothing but the clothes on their back & whatever amount of sanity they have left. My goal with this Funding is to make RecoveryBoxes for addicts transitioning into detox from their active addiction. These boxes with have hygiene items, period products, food and water items, hydration packs, blankets, socks, undies, first aid items, and more. When someone is detoxing, very little can help to ease their pain, however, having a few comfort items and Advil or Antacid can give them peace of mind . We are here for them. It helps knowing there is a reason they're going thru the pain and sickness of detox. 

As much as I want to get these RecoveryBoxes up and running, I can only do so much as a single mom and a full-time studet, starting out a long-term career goal of helping addicts. Any amount towards this fund helps. I plan to give these boxes out to the community in which I reside, and ship around the United States to anyone in need at No cost to the applicant. I know, I know, that sounds crazy. but, as someone who has detoxed countless times, it is worth it to me. Helping someone find comfort in a very vulnerable and fragile state gives me solace that there is good out there. Knowing I can be apartof someone's recovery by showing them human decency.....that is all I strive for. You can help, too. You too can give someone comfort in knowing there are more of us caring for them and hoping they get thru the detox and find ways to cope to remain healthy from then on.
