Pink Nail Society Campaign

That's my father in the profile picture.  He is now without a prostate.   His PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) level reached level 22.  It was already too late.  Cancer cells dominated his prostate resulting in removal of his prostate.  It took a second doctor's opinion to execute the surgery.  Today, he is still fighting cancer.
He underwent an arduous trial of radiation therapy and still, cancer was found lurking.

Monthly, he is administered hormone therapy treatment (http://zerocancer.org/learn/hormone-therapy) to not cure the cancer, but to decelerate the speed of it.

In July of 2014, my father, Donald, called me up and explained that he felt a lost of manhood.  What could one do to boost up his self-esteem?  I decided to paint both of my pinkie fingernails to demonstrate that one can still gain manhood with a little nail polish.  "Dad, look at my nails.  Yes, they are pink; however, I still stand a man.  And, so can you."  I could see him smile through the telephone.  His voice became relaxed.

This campaign is to initiate a non-profit organization (Pink Nail Society) to focus on testing uninsured men for prostate cancer.   South Florida offers ample free STD and HIV testing centers,  yet free prostate examinations are scarce.   Let's make this happen.  Let's prevent men from dealing with what my father experienced.  Let's share this message, so men everywhere shall have the chance to save their prostate.

You ought to know:
-1 in 7 men will develop prostate cancer.
-African-American men are more susceptible to dying       from prostate cancer.
-All men are at risk; however, prostate cancer is found more in men over the age of 50.
-The American Cancer Society estimates that 220,800 men will be informed they have prostate cancer in 2015.
Today, nearly 2.8 million American men are living with prostate cancer; this is equivilant to the population of Chicago.

Cancer isn't always genetic.  Save your body.  Think ahead.

Paint a pinkie nail or two.  Help us raise awareness in prostate cancer.

LET'S GIVE PROSTATE CANCER THE FINGER!

Our Promise:  We Pinkie Swear to Care!

My father still paints his pinkies.

Every day.
