Aargh You Ready to Read!?

"Aargh you ready to read!?" is a literacy fair event that will take place at Northgate Middle School in North Kansas City, Missouri. 6th and 7th grade English Language Learners will rotate through various stations at the fair where they will get their own customized bookshelf, a library card, multicultural treats, and brand new and used Truman Reader Award books to populate their bookshelves. We will also have a book exchange where families can share a part of their lives with someone else. Parents will get information on how to support their child's reading at home, and we will all celebrate our love of reading with a pirate themed festival that will bring libraries to many students' homes. As it is hard for families to start their own libraries, we are hoping to raise money to buy brand new Truman Reader Award books and others, for these scholars. With a modest donation, you are providing a bright English Language Learner with a book to call his/her own. Our literacy fair is May 5, 2016. The quicker we are able to reach our goal; the more time it allows to raise even more money so students can get more books to read for the summer. As of now, our goal is to give each student 3 new or used chapter books, but your donation could increase it so each student could get 5.
