NB Christmas Lights Fundraiser 2021

North Berwick Christmas Lights will be switched on, on November 27th at 4pm, High Street, NB.

It is approaching that time of year again and North Berwick Community Council Christmas Lights Committee have been working hard over the last few months to have the lights ready.

Sadly, due to continued COVID restrictions, East Lothian Council imposed a number of safety requirements for us to comply with, in order for us to host our in person Christmas lights switch on event at the Abbey Church. Whilst we understand the importance of keeping people safe, unfortunately, the requirements were too onerous and we have taken the disappointing decision, to once again hold a virtual event. This will be the second year in a row that we are missing out on a collection in the Church at our switch on event, which helps cover the costs of the lights. Please donate via this page if you can. Money raised via this fund is ring fenced by the Community Council in it's entirety for the Christmas Lights.

Donations of £50 or more will receive a Christmas Lights Sponsor window sticker.

As well as our usual maintenance, installation, removal, etc costs, we are trying to raise £10,200 to fund a powerful projector with a long distance lens to project onto the gable end wall at the lighthouse between the High St and Quality St. We have applied for funding to the Stella Moffat Trust, North Berwick Trust and the Area Partnership. We very much hope that all being well with our applications and them being supported and approved, that we will be able to have this installed in time for the switch on. The current projector that we use is an old theatre projector that reads metal discs with holes punched in. The new projector would be able to read memory cards and display whatever we wanted. We think this would be a fantastic addition to our Christmas display as well as being available year round for other community groups to share projects and events via, all whilst supporting the lights for future years.
