Timpani (and Percussion) for HSO

Can you imagine the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey without the iconic sound of the timpani beating out a primal beat? What would the likes of Stravinsky, Holst, Berlioz, Bach, Beethoven, and Mahler sound like without these thunderous drums? Timpani are one of the most important instruments in an orchestra...and one of the most expensive.

The Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra is a group of local musicians who enthusiastically give of our time and talents in order to share our love of music with the community. But we can't do it without your help! Orchestras usually own their own timpani, but HSO has always been dependant on others to allow us the use of these drums. And after years of bringing the arts to the community, we'd like our percussion section to be reliably equipped.

A complete set of timpani (typically five drums ranging in size from 20" to 32") can cost more than a new car, but we know we can continue making and sharing music with a set of just three drums.

Any contribution you can make toward our goal of $7500 will get us one step closer to being a self-sufficient orchestra and continue sharing our love of music with you and your family.
