Brandon's Battle with Leukemia

On June 5th, 2018, my brother Brandon went to the Emergency Room at Warren General Hospital for stomach pains, fever, and fatigue. He thought that it was possibly something with his appendix. After some lab work the doctors came to the conclusion that it was actually Acute Leukemia. Brandon was transferred by ambulance to UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh that evening where he underwent x-rays and CT scans to see if/where the cancer has spread. The next day, they did a bone marrow biopsy to determine exactly what type of Leukemia it is, which determined what treatments will be needed.  Brandon spent months in and out of the hospital undergoing numerous rounds of chemotherapy and other testing and treatments before being declared in remission in the winter of 2018. Unfortunately, his remission was short-lived, and the leukemia returned in Spring of 2019. He has since had a couple of extended stays in Pittsburgh for treatment as well as numerous trips for testing and follow up appointments. In November, Brandon will begin a 3 month stay in Pittsburgh. On November 12th, he will undergo a stem cell transplant. Brandon is a 32 year old son, brother, husband, and father to two incredible, young children. We are determined to fight this battle with him every step of the way! Family, friends, acquaintances, and caring strangers; please keep my brother Brandon in your prayers.
