PLEASE HELP THESE POOR CHILDREN

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shamica Wilson. I desperetly need your assistance to help raise funds for needy school children who attend Johnson College Prep High School located in Englewood on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois. These students are in dire need of a lot of things that I would love to give to them but I can't help them all by myself. Like the old saying goes..."It takes a village to raise a child," and I ask you to please help me raise funds for these needy children to provide for them buscards, school uniforms (and accessories), school shoes, basic hygeine products, and winter coats (and accessories).

This idea came to me over a month ago when my brother went to school and they told him that he needed school shoes that comply with the dress code. Suddenly I thought to myself, 'if my brother need some shoes, how many more school kids are in need of shoes, busfare, school uniforms, hygiene products and more, but their parents or legal gaurdians can't afford it?' Then I thought to do something about it- you know, be the SOLUTION!

Afterwards I called several Englewood high schools in Chicago, Illinois in order to ask if I could raise money for shoes, buscards, uniforms, etc. for their needy students and Johnson College Prep High School gave me the OKAY to start this fundraiser for their needy children. I am so excited and humbled for this great opportunity to help these young children but I can't do it all by myself I truly need your help! My goal is to raise enough money in order to help a minimum of 20 students at the Johnson College Prep High School. Depending on the amount of funds that are donated, I will allocate at least $85.00 for buscards, $50.00 for school uniforms and accessories, $50.00 for school shoes, $50.00 for basic hygeine products, and $100.00 for a winter coat and accesories. This equals out to $335.00 per child. I am increasing this amount to $350.00 per child to make sure everyting is covered for each child. Therefore, the total amount needed to supply buscards, school uniforms and accessories, school shoes, basic hygeine products, and winter coat and accesories for these needy children is $7,000 ($350.00 x 20 needy students= $7K).

Please help me to make some child's life much better this holiday season by donating any amount you desire to give in order for us to reach the $7,000 goal and help these children in need. Any amount will be MUCH NEEDED and APPRECIATED!!! Thank you for the opportunity and your unselfishness this holiday season! If you have any questions or concerns please contact me here on Gofundme.com. Thank you and may God bless you all is my prayer!!!

A Few Facts on Homeless Students in Illinois-

The Chicago Coalition for the Homeless states these facts below:

An August 2014 analysis by CCH estimates that 138,575 Chicagoans were homeless in the course of the 2013-14 school year. This is 19.4% more than the 116,042 people who were homeless a year earlier. The total is based, in part, on the rising enrollment of homeless students in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) – 22,144 in FY14. Eighty-eight percent of homeless students lived doubled-up, usually in overcrowded conditions in the homes of others due to hardship, according to Policy Director Julie Dworkin.

CPS identified a record 22,144 homeless students in the 2013-14 school year. This is an 18.6% increase from the entire prior school year. Of this, 98.2% were children of color and 20% have been diagnosed with disabilities or developmental delays. Homeless students included 2,508 unaccompanied youth, teens who were homeless and living without parent or guardian. Unaccompanied youth are teens who are homeless and living on their own, without the support of family or guardian.

CCH estimates that 12,186 youth (ages 14 to 21) made up 8.8% percent of Chicago’ s homeless population in the year that ended June 30, 2014. Of this, the Chicago school system counted 2,508 unaccompanied youth living on their own and attending its schools.
