Testimony through music.

My name is Nicholas B. Haffter Von Heide, and this is my testimony of God's goodness and provision throughout my life. I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003 - 2004) Combat Veteran. Yes, I said that: Combat. My unit - the 1st Cavalry Division Band was issued a Combat Action Badge for actions taken during our tour in the box, and as far as I know, I am one of very few bandsmen to receive this award and the only euphonium performer.
This is a new start for me; a renewal of sorts and a new frame of mind to be able to share God's testimony through my life experiences. For many years, I have denied and buried many of the pains which He has brought me through and not given Him the proper glory He deserves, and in moving forward I intend to share and live my faith through music.
It is my intention to bring my testimony to light, of not only combat, but my relationship with God past and present. Prior to joining the U.S. Army, I had done missionary work in Central America and South East Asia taking my music and experiences to a more intimate level. Having deployed to Iraq, I lost touch with who I was, and allowed my circumstances to dictate my future.
Getting out was very difficult as you will hear in my testimony of all the trials and tribulations God has allowed me and my family to go through. This amount will fund a basic non-compensating euphonium (the $431.52 one below) for me to practice and perform on, and hoping for more than what I asked for, to purchase a professional quality instrument (around $6,000 - 10,000 used or new) like the one I had issued to me for use in the Band (We do not get to keep those by the way). So it is with humble regard, and at the request of friends and acquaintances that I put this here to see God in action to get God's testimony through me and what I have battled over the years to reach those who need to hear hope and some good tunes.
