'A Country Arts Practice'

Donation protected
I have recently been accepted into the NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) program to set up my small business - ‘A Country Arts Practice’

This business will present opportunities in Community Arts & Specialised Arts Supports Services for people with disability in the Gladstone Region of Queensland.

This service will be offered on a variety of platforms:

1.Group workshops in a studio setting where people can develop skills independently or collaboratively.
The workshops will offer people choice. Choice in how they make art, in what way they chose to make art and how they wish to develop as an artist. While in the workshop, each participant is given a choice in how they participate. Be it through observation (watching other people make art).Hands on art-making.Refining established skills (many people come with existing skills they wish to build upon, rediscover and/or explore in the studio).
And/or trying new skills/mediums - sharing and communicating about their process and ideas.

The support to participating artists will be about encouraging their own independence and autonomy in decision making while making art.

2.Creative school holiday programs for toddlers, children and teenagers. These programs will reflect what the above workshops also offer.

3.Individualised tutoring (Evenings and weekends) where emerging artists with disability can explore their individual arts practice with the support and expertise of an experienced artist. In addition to practical studio work, artists will have support to access gallery exhibitions and professional development opportunities including portfolio building, writing artist statements and preparing work for presentation. It can also include researching art practice by looking through books, journals and other resource materials for reference; or researching art practice through seeing local exhibitions.

4.Art parties for people with disability where themes and activities are catered for the individuals interests, goals and needs. Art parties can take place at either the individuals home or within the studio. Availability will be for Evenings and weekends.

5.Artist in Residence projects that can take place at Schools, Hospitals and Day Services. These can range from 2 hour workshops, to a series of on-going visits. These services can be for groups or individuals.
All materials used will have a strong focus on natural materials and recycling.

Each interaction will be customised in accordance with the participants needs, interests and goals via their NDIS plan. The support can be tailored to work with Therapists. For example: Skill development in communication, fine and gross motor skills via reports from Speech and Occupational Therapists.

The funds will be for:

Business Registration fees
Public Liability Insurance costs.
Blue card application
Training
Materials
Website
Administration

I am working towards the business and it's services to be up and running in time for the first school term in 2019.
I will be undertaking a Certificate IV in Small Business Management under the NEIS program in February 2019.

All donations over $50 will receive 'Art on a Card' packs of 5 that are valued at $100.
Donations of $100 will receive a pack of 10, to the value of $200.
These packs feature original artwork, created by me in 2018 that can be given as a card, then used for display.

For donations over $200, I will create a drawing that will be in consultation with you to compliment a space of your choosing. The work will be at a maximum of 75cm in width, to facilitate delivery -but it can be as long as you like. The time focused on the work will come to a value of $600.
For donations over $400 and under $600, I will create one of the above and another medium sized drawing to compliment the piece. This will be to the value of $800.
For donations over $1,000 I will create a painting (again in consultation with you) on canvas that will be 1 x 1 metres, or of a size that is most suitable for you. This painting will be couriered to your door.

Gratitude and thanks to individuals will be shared via social media platforms.www.melissapeacock.com
