Taking the Thompsons Home

Ashley, David and Baby Airi's time in Japan has come to an end. 2012 proved to be an especially challenging time for the Thompson family--emotionally, physically and financially. Plagued by bouts of sickness, and work issues, the toll of those stresses combined with Ashley's battle against post-partum depression have lead the family to decide it is in their best collective interest to return to the United States. Ashley can get the support and proper treatment she needs, David can find a more stable job and Baby Airi can be surrounded by family.

At this time, the family needs a bit of help raising the funds necessary to close out accounts in Japan (rent, utilities, etc.). They are being proactive in this by selling almost all of their belongings, but they still need some help. They also are only bringing the bare bones of their personal items back to the States: clothing, books, and photos. In the US they will have to start from scratch again, rebuilding their lives.
Both David and Ashley are incredibly hard-working, educated people with strong work ethics. This is not a case of being lazy at all; just a case of a family having a serious bout of bad luck and just needing a helping hand, as we all do in life.
Ashley has helped so many through her writing, and Surviving in Japan Blog. She has remained positive and along with David, very proactive in trying to better their life in Japan but sometimes you have to do what is best and call it a day.
If you can, please help contribute to helping David, Ashley and Baby Airi return to the United States (Seattle, WA to be specific) and rebuild their lives.
All money raised will be used to pay off debts/close accounts in Japan, and ship the small amount of personal belongings they are keeping to Seattle. (They cashed in SkyMiles for airline tickets.) If any money remains after those debts are paid, it will be used to help secure housing and a vehicle in the US.
I am doing this page with the permission of the Thompson family. I strongly feel that everyone needs help sometime, and there is no shame in that. Ashley and David have worked so hard and accomplished so much in such difficult circumstances, and I just want to see them be able to close this chapter of their life with as little stress as possible so they can start fresh again.
Thank you all so much for reading, and please feel free to share.
