We hope you all enjoyed the dirt jumps at the park this season. Much work goes into providing this one-of-a-kind bike park, and we need your help to open again for 2020!
We currently do not have enough funds to begin the annual work on the jumps, which we hope to start as soon as the weather dries up in the spring. Yes, it is still a ways away but it takes many cogs to keep the proverbial wheel turning.
The North Saanich Freeride Park is located on North Saanich parks land, however, it is operated by volunteers - a relatively small team of dedicated volunteers - and funded by donations from the community.
We managed to scrape by with an operating budget for 2019 of $4,000. This was just enough to open the park, minus the double black line. We were able to pay for the bare minimum expenses but not the double blacks, which meant no jump events. Our bank account is running dry which means we need your help NOW in order to keep the park open in 2020.
For 2020 we need a budget of $8,000 - $22,000 minimum to meet our goals.
This breaks down into:
- $3,500 in excavator and tool rentals for our annual spring refresh of the jumps to get them ready for the season
- $1,000 in labour and consultant fees for jump construction
- $2,000 - $3,000 in construction materials for completion of our new viewing deck and tool shed/office
- $500 for tools and hoses
- $500 to pay for medical support and toilets for our 2020 dirt jump competition
- $16,000 to pay for 4 wooden lips ($4,000/ramp from http://flowformramps.com) to re-open the double black line
