2019 48 Hour Improv Marathon

Spende geschützt
At 5:00pm on Friday June 28, 2019, eight brave and foolish improvisers will take the Hideout stage and stay there until 5pm on Sunday the 30th, performing 48 STRAIGHT HOURS of improvisational theatre and comedy without sleep or respite.

Each hour of the marathon will be a separate show, featuring classic and upcoming Hideout formats, one-off shows never to be seen again, and guest troupes and players from Austin’s ever-growing improv community.

But WHY are we doing this??

The entire Marathon is a fundraiser for  The Hideout Youth  and Building Connections   (special needs) program. The money raised during this event helps pay the tuition   for kids to participate in summer camps or classes who other wise could not afford it.

Improv helps lives – no, really, it does! Kids who take improv classes at the Hideout Theatre learn how to hone their listening skills, express themselves creatively, work and play with others, take risks, and communicate effectively. With classes expanding to serve youth on the Autism Spectrum and at-risk youth, the impact of the Hideout youth programming has continued to grow.

To learn more, watch this video overview of the program:

This year’s core marathon improvisers will be Caeriel Crestin, Frank Sánchez, Jessica von Schramm, Jordan T. Maxwell, Lisa Michelle Jackson, Megan Sherrod, Monica Mahertinez, and Michael Yichao (visiting from Santa Monica!)

If you're here because of one them, give them a shoutout in the comments!

Remember, this will be 48 hours (2 full days!) full of original programming.

Our goal is the largest it's ever been: $8,000. It will be work, but we're confident we can do it with your help. We believe in improv's capacity to make lives better, and we're eager to provide another year of classes and shows to Austin.

"The Building Connections program at the Hideout Theatre is the best of its kind in the nation, maybe the world. It combines a high quality curriculum with skilled and dedicated instructors who collaborate with a level of professionalism that most schools and universities would envy."
