Jorie's Story

My sister Jorie has been diagnosed, after several tests and procedures, as having a hole in her heart. Although normally found at a young age, sometimes even at birth, Jorie has gone undiagnosed for 20 years. As a sophomore at Eastern Illinois University, Jorie was suffering from inexplicable health problems and spent many months undergoing tests and procedures to find out what was causing her seizures and fainting episodes. Finally, the large hole was found. He heart is 160% the size of a normal heart, working overtime to keep her alive. At age 20, surgery is her only option to save her life.
