The 24th St. Neighborhood Corridor

I am a mother of a murdered son and a aunt of a murdered nephew in one of the most violent city of our state's. Kansas-City. The area of 24th St. is an area of the 3rd District. This area is the most poverty-stricken with 90 percent of the crime happening in this community.
It has the highest number of murdered victims of babies and youth 16-24. I have been a volunteered for the last 12 years in my community. I am also the President of the Neighborhood Organization called The East 23rd Street Pac Neighborhood . Our goal is to rehab a starter project of 5 houses on The 24th St. Corridor. This corridor is where the needs of the people are met through businesses. We are partnering with contractors that are elated to have our youth work beside them.
The rehabbing of these houses will bring job creation, skills, mentoring, and home ownership to our youth and parents. The completion of this project will allow us to acquire more houses in the area, creating stability, self sufficiency and self reliance with in our community and neighborhood organization. With this project our hope is to address crime, jobs, and hopelessness in our community. As leaders, we want to make our community a liveable and safe community for all our people.
