Help Aliyanah & Skylar go to Worlds
Since Ben & My girls started Martial Arts tournaments, three years ago, their goal was Team USA and attend the World Tournament. This past May they competeted in WKU Team USA trials and MADE it! They are now part of Team USA National Karate Team
Some background: Aliyanah is dyslexic and although always did well in class, when it came time to compete nobody thought she would do well. She put all she was into practicing and soon started winning. She never lost hope, never felt she could not do it.
Skylar has always wanted to be different. She saw someone doing the fans at a tournament and fell in love. There was not anyone in our area at the time to teach her. She asked us to buy her some, she watched YouTube videos and taught herself. For years she did not place well at tournaments. This past year something clicked in Skylar and she is more driven than ever. She is fierce and competing in creative and musical divisions and finally getting noticed. (and winning!)
Our girls have not let anything stop them from reaching their goal. Their father, SFC Benjamin Rogers (U.S. Army), was relocated to North Georgia 2 years ago and the girls have had to train from home, in multiple gyms and parks and multiple dojos until finding the right dojo for them. They also travel back to their home dojo in Tennessee for testing and hope to obtain their black belts in a year.
They have recently joined Team Next Level South and are excited for their future!
Aliyanah has made the Team USA for Traditional Karate Weapons and Creative Weapon no music. She has also earned a spot for sparring.
Skylar has earned a spot on Team USA for Musical Weapons with her fans and a spot for sparring.
This tournament is a week long event in Orlando, Florida September 2016.
This goal is to help us fund a week in a hotel, Team USA uniforms, WKU tournament fees, travel & food expenses. We will update everyone on our journey and update this page with pictures and placement. If the girls medal this year they get to hold their spot on the team for next year and will get to compete out of country!
Our girls are hard at work training! We appreciate everyone even if you just read this and share, thank you for taking an interest! God is good and we know he will help us make this dream a reality for our girls. Everyone who donates if you leave contact information the girls will send you something!
