Rebuild Nolina's Heavenly Organics

In 2003, Nolina purchased an untouched, pristine Bosque property located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. Invasive species were cleared away, natives were planted, dirt was slowly transformed into soil and thus began Nolina’s Heavenly Organics.
As a petite artisan farm, we have had the pleasure of growing a plethora of specialty garlic, gorgeous greens and so many other types of produce for the last 13 years. Our “beyond organic” food has entered into the heart’s and belly’s of our local Lemitar, Albuquerque and Santa Fe communities. We have spent the last decade being stewards of the land, creating a small paradise where the creatures of the Bosque are welcome to live their lives in heavenly peace.
On June 10th, 2016, a fire started in a neighbor's yard that quickly got out of control. We watched the smoke from afar as the flames slowly crept closer and closer towards the old-growth cottonwoods that we were so fond of. Once the fire hit the trees, we knew our beautiful home was no more.
Except for the open farm field, all structures, tools, and supplies were destroyed. Our house lies as a pile of rubble. Only 4 chickens out of our colorful flock survived. The peacocks have charred feet. We cannot find our cat. And our majestic, tango-dancing cottonwoods have fallen.
The farm is our livelihood. The farm is our home. The farm is what gave meaning to our lives.
It is bleak and we are greatly saddened, even knowing Mothernature will regenerate the land eventually. The loss of the big old cottonwoods removed shade and shelter. Bleak, indeed, and hot. And yet, we focus on what we still have.
What we have is hope. Hope that our supportive community of veggie lovers, friends and kind strangers will donate to our cause. We want to rebuild. We want to restore.
All donations will go directly back into rebuilding the farm. Our first priority is replacing the everyday tools of a farmer – our first purchase will be a wheelbarrow!
We are so thankful for all the support we have already received. We hope that you can continue to be generous and help us rise from the ashes and bring back a little bit more goodness into the world.
