To our house knocked cancer ... Before this happened, we have thought like you, that such of the stories are somewhere next to..., but that disease knows our address and surprisingly knocked on our door. Unfortunately, knocked and chosen the worst, as she could - attacked our little daughter Wanda.
When Wanda was born on February 2, 2012, we were the happiest parents on earth. We have not been able to enjoy this happiness for too long.
After 10 months of wonderful baby time, when we were planning the upcoming birthday of our princess, we heard a diagnosis: RETINOBLASTOMA
For us at that time it sounded like JUDGEGMENT, but we could not even imagine, at worst, how much suffering, tears and pain would accompany us in the fight against this unpredictable disease. No one has predicted what challenges we will have to face and how difficult choices will come to us when we treat our beloved daughter!
Quite soon we reached the oncology department of the University Children's Hospital in Prokocim, where a 6-month battle for the life of our daughter began. Wanda was given 6 cycles of general chemotherapy in hope of stopping the monster. As a result of this fight, the tumor was reduced by almost half, unfortunately after 9 months we've heard from the doctors about the resumption - general chemistry did not bring the intended effects.
Doctors in Poland have increasingly started to mention the removal eye, which we could not agree, knowing that there are other treatment options in the world.
Our duty as parents is to fight for a better life for our daughter, and because she is too small for this fight, we have to do it for her! After a few days, Wanda's parents decided to treat intraarticular chemotherapy at Great Ormond Hospital in London. Thanks to the help of good people, friends and families, the financial resources needed for treatment. Wanda received 3 doses of Melphalan, after which she resumed, but her overall health deteriorated. She was very ill with analgesia, which she often vomited, she was weakened, she has lost an appetite.
After two years of fight with a cancer Wanda was able to do things like a normal,healthy baby girl: to attend nursery, to meet children, to ride a bike, to swim, to go to their first vacation in life .
On a screening test in London 30.10.2017, ie 3 years and 2 months after the end of the last treatment, we've heard from the doctor who led Wanda: "The tumor is active again." These words came to our consciousness, but they did not find understanding and reflected from our horror, as from the invisible glass that grew with each and every one of its sentences. To this day, we have the impression that it is a dream that it is certainly a mistake that we can not do it again! It is difficult to describe in words what we've felt then. It soon became clear to us that Wanda was again facing this insidious illness, and we can not surrender now, because it would mean that all her pain and suffering had gone to waste.
We are aware, that without your help and support we will not be able to succeed.
