Heads FWB Church Building Fund
Heads Free Will Baptist Church was founded in 1840 in rural Robertson County, TN and is in fact one of the oldest buildings in Robertson County. Throughout the years, the church has ministered to the local community and provided support for various ministries while maintaining public services for the worship of God.
In the early morning of June 24th, torrential rains inundated Middle Tennessee overnight. Heads FWB Church is located in a low-lying area next to a small creek. As the creek filled due to the substantial amount of rain received over a short period of time, a culvert under a nearby road became blocked with debris. The water rose above the road and flowed into the church sanctuary and the church's fellowship hall. The water level inside the fellowship hall rose to approximately 21 inches and reached levels of close to 5 inches in the church offices and parts of the Sancutuary.
The pressure of the running water caused the rear wall of the Fellowship Hall to buckle outward. The bricks on the outside of the wall were peeled off and the building foundation in this area was significantly damaged. The contents of the fellowship hall, which included kitchen appliances, tables, chairs, and classroom supplies, were also damaged by the flooding. The Heads Church family has started working to clean up, dry out, and repair the facilities where possible.
Due to the fact that the damage was caused by flooding in an area that is not classified as a flood plain, it is unknown at this time what, if any, insurance will be available to help with repairs or rebuiling.
Donations to this Go Fund Me will be used to make some repairs if possible and to replace material lost to the flooding. Any additional funding will go towards the building program of which the purpose is to construct a new building at a different site nearby to alleviate any future flooding concerns.
These donations will help the church with continuing its ministry to the community, local charities, missionaries, and the world.
