Three months ago, Danielle 22, a hardworking chef working in Uluru had to uproot her life to care for her terminally ill mother (campaign photo) living in Toowoomba Queensland.
On June 28, Danielle awoke at 9:30 to her mother in the Garage lying on the floor with flames up her legs, reacting fast, she extinguished the flames with a bucket and water from the sink, called 000 for emergency help as her mother was in pain.
Paramedics arrived and assessed Noleen and took her immediately to Toowomba Hospital and soon after transported to the burn ward in The Royal Brisbane Womans Hospital where she is currently being treated and may not leave.
Later that morning neighbours reported heavy smoke and flames coming from Danielle and Noleens house and the property was soon ablaze internally when Firefighters arrived.
Unfortunately the house is not salvageable, photos, posessions and memories have all been lost and they now have nothing.
Noleen has Stage 3 Bowel Cancer which has now created a metatistic tumour in her brain, lungs and liver. The tumor in Noleens head has affected her every day activities that once were normal practice, Memory and cognitive functionality, inability to temper who people are and incapable of physical exertion.
For the past few months Danielle has been without an income to support herself and her mother during this horrible ordeal and only started receiving a small carers pension from Centrelink in the last couple of weeks.
Uprooting her strong career as a chef in a place she was incredibly happy, look after her terminally ill mother and then to lose every possesion she and her mother owns is upsetting to say the least.
We hope by sharing this story the community will come together to help this young girl who has lost and sacrificed soo much to help someone else.
