To China With Love 2015

What started out as a one-time, mother-daughter, mission trip in July 2014 to an orphanage in China with America World Adoption Association's Storyteller Missions altered the course of our family's lives.
We fell in love with the children and staff! They became our second family, "our China family", as we laughed and played and shared our life stories and memories. On our last day with the children, I made a promise to a young, teenage boy, now too old to ever be adopted, that I would return to see him next year...before even asking my husband if I could.
After returning home, as we shared our stories from the time we spent with the children staff in the orphanage, our passion ignited a fire within the hearts of our four youngest to meet and love on these children so far from our fly-over-zone home in the midwest. Our teenage boys immediately began planning what they could do for and with the older boys living at the orphanage - dreaming of donated soccer balls to replace "balls" made of paper and tape and practicing magic tricks to entertain and engage that cross the language barrier while speaking the universal language of laughter and fun. Our two youngest daughters, who were both adopted from China, want to meet other children who are orphaned, like they were, and share the hope and future that is possible within the nurture and love of a family.
The blessings of our short time in China only increased exponentially as the days, weeks, and months have passed. We continue to tell the stories of these children, sharing with waiting parents about our time with their child, speaking to prospective parents about our observations of a child they are considering adopting, advocating for these children and giving voice to their silent stories. Words cannot express the JOY of seeing families grow and children come home!
Our desire is for OUR WHOLE FAMILY to return again this summer, July 2015, to build on the relationships we established and continue our efforts to advocate for the orphaned children we met to find their forever families!

HAPPY/SAD UPDATED GOALS
The first financial deadline came and went. We just did not have enough funds to send the whole family with the July 2015 Storyteller Missions team. We made the difficult decision to just have our oldest daughter and myself return with this team.
Our middle daughter will join me and travel with the November 2015 team I will be leading!
We have not abandoned our dream of all the family loving and serving these precious kiddos! Now the family will focus on joining the SUMMER 2016 Storyteller Missions team! That gives them a whole year to continue fundraising to reach this goal!
