This is Jennifer Garcia-Martin, a very dear friend and right now she needs all the help she can get.
She is one of the strongest, smartest, and most independent women I know
For years Jennifer has suffered from extreme high blood pressure and migraines and since losing her job with the government due to her illnesses she has not had medical insurance, therefore; has been unable to get treatment or the blood pressure medication she so desperately needed.
Despite her illnesses she has tried to live her life to the fullest and has tried to work.
Over the years she has had occasions where she has had to go to the Emergency Room always recieiving minimal treatment due to lack of insurance. She hated the way they treated her once they found out she had no insurance so most of the time she would just refuse to go.
Now her life has been changed forever.
Two weeks ago she started having symptoms of a stroke and went to a local emergency room. Despite her outrageous blood pressure they treated her for a migraine and released her. Her symptoms continued to get worse every day and she finally decided to try a different emergency room. This emergency room did less than the first one, they seemed to be convinced she must be doing drugs, which she has never done, and without any testing and only prescribing blood pressure medication they also released her.
Once again the symptoms continued to get worse every day.
Today she went back to the second emergency room she went too and after I started demanding they look further into what was going on they did a CT scan and as her friends and family suspected all along she was having a stroke.
Jennifer now has damage to the right side of her brain and will need extensive rehabilitation for her speech and walking. It will be months before we know how much of the damage is permanent and to what extent.
She has lost her job since she has been unable to work since this began 2 weeks ago and even though she has applied for insurance it is still pending.
Jennifer, her family and friends will greatly appreciate any help she can get right now to cover personal and medical expenses including rehab and help when she is able to go home since she will not be able to care for herself.
