The Patty McKay Memorial Scholarship is an award created in the memory of Patrick McKay, a gifted and passionate hockey player.
The award will be presented to 2 deserving students graduating from Clarington Central Secondary School each year, who played 'Rep' hockey and are continuing their education in a science, technology, engineering, or math field.
Patty began playing hockey at the age of 6 as a centerman, the position he would play for the rest of his career. He started playing rep hockey with the Orono Leafs at the age of 7, winning both a silverstick and the OMHA championship there. At age 9, he joined the Toros, where he would play until he was 16. Patty was always a powerful player who enjoyed the camaraderie of being part of a team. He finished off his hockey career playing Junior C.
