AIMS Opera Fund for Renee!
Donation protected
I am trying to scrape together money to attend the American Institute of Musical Studies for 6 weeks in Graz, Austria this summer.
I have been fully accepted to attend in the Operatic Program! (yay!)
Unfortunately, the program is not an inexpensive one ($6500 for tuition alone. Yikes!), but it is an incredibly valuable one.
AIMS brings top-notch/famous classical singers to do master classes and give lessons. A numerous amount of performance opportunities are given to all those who attend, and there are even German classes to take that specifically center around the musical terminology that would be necessary to know if I were to perform in a German-speaking country. AIMS also offers the chance to audition for talent scouts and agents - an invaluable opportunity.
I have to have all of the tuition paid for by May 15, 2013, but there are matters of still paying for the plane tickets (which will be cheaper the earlier I purchase them) and spending money (AIMS recommends $1500 to cover meals, books, competition fees, etc...)
All donations to AIMS for the purpose of my participation are tax deductible.
I cannot stress enough that this is an incredible opportunity. My undergraduate education at Western Michigan University is extensive, but to "make it" I will need these invaluable connections made at AIMS, as well as the performance experience.
For those of you who may not have heard me perform, or at least heard me recently, here are some recordings of my Junior Recital that I held in January of 2013.
Here's a performance of me in the month of April 2013
(fast-forward to the 20 minute mark).
