Disabled veteran needs your help

Hello and god bless. I'm a 49 y/o Cold War/desert storm era vet and former single father of two. A few years ago I developed a condition following a heart attack that made the cartilage in my hips begin to deteriorate. As of now, my hips, both sides, are bone on bone and the ball joints have flattened out, making it impossible for me to walk more than a few feet at a time. My condition is bad enough that it doesn't allow me to bend over, sit or lay without excruciating pain, drive or be any kind of truly mobile, and worst of all doesn't allow me to work.

I am currently in the VA pipeline for surgery, but I've been giving no date yet for surgery. To complicate this, I suffered a heart attack and I'm diabetic. My travel expenses to the Orlando VA hospital from Daytona beach are beyond what I can afford, and I am a about a month from my utilities being shut off and being homeless.

My family can not help, nor can my friends. I am unable to buy the food I need as a diabetic. I was let go from my job of 8 years due to my condition, and my unemployment benefits have run out. I am trying to get help through social security, but the process is painfully slow. I'm putting this out here because I need basic living expenses until I receive my surgery through VA, recover from the surgery and place myself back in the workforce again.

I am an honorably discharged navy veteran. I drove nuclear subs for ten years, giving that up only to raise two small children at the time. I have worked since I was 14 years old. I have been an advocate for abused women and children and helped counsel drug addicts for 7 years. I am proud and uncomfortable asking for help, but at this point I don't have any other direction to turn. My goal is 10,000, but any assistance will both help and be appreciated. I'm falling through the cracks. Please help if you can. Thank you and god bless you all.
