The purpose of Advance In Reading is to help students of any age to achieve reading excellence. We also provide English as a Second Language instruction.  

The need is great for scholarship assistance to help at risk students to achieve reading success.
All funds raised go to provide literacy instruction, books and other educational materials for students who do not have the means to pay for our program.

Advance In Reading is a registered non-profit.  Your contributions are tax-deductable.

Approximately  twenty five per cent of North Carolina students are not reading at grade level.  Students who are not reading at grade level by the fourth grade are at risk of continued academic failure.

I'm a Reading Instruction Specialist. I help students of all ages to achieve reading success, regardless of the cause of the reading difficulty.

Since 2004, I have helped many students to improve their reading, including ESL students.
It is a great joy and profoundly gratifying to be able to make such a difference in the life of a person who has struggled with reading, fallen behind and failed.

Instruction is one-on-one, using a phonics based course.
Typically the cost of my fees is paid by the student or their parent.
Because some families cannot afford private instruction, I also provide lessons on a scholarship basis and have provided many hours of reading instruction at either free or reduced cost.
