The Brittney Fund

Donation protected
A young girl and her family had their world turned upside down after a trip to the Emergency Department Friday afternoon.
Brittney Anderson (15 years old) had the flu (so they thought) for 2 weeks, and then a case of Gastro, after a few days of no improvement a Drs appointment was made. However, on her way to the Drs Brittney collapsed in her driveway and was taken to ED instead.

From then she underwent an initial blood test which showed her Red Blood Cells were at an extreme low of 31 compared to the 115 they should have been. After repeating the test a second time the results remained unchanged. While Brittney went for a chest Xray Renee (her mother) was told the one thing a parent never wants to hear- that her daughter has cancer.
Brittney was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia ( also known as Pre-B ALL)  and she was transfered immediately to RCH to start treatment.
It was discovered after further tests that Brittney has Philadelphia chromosome positive Pre-B ALL. A rare type of Leukemia.

Brittney has undergone 8 blood transfusions and the cancer has taken an effect on all of her vital organs, she is on steroids daily as part 1 of her chemo and another medication intravenously as part 2 her blood sugar keeps rising due to this, meaning she is also on insulin, she has 5 other antibiotics as well as 2  bags of platelets daily. Every second day she has a bag of blood.

She underwent her 1st surgery on Sunday, consisting of putting a line in her groin , a lumber puncture, a lung flush and the 3rd part of chemo which was medicine given up and around her brain as the cancer likes to hide there.

Brittney is a quiet, compassionate and generous young lady who loves children, textiles, arts and crafts.

We have started this fund to help Brittney's family in the hard times ahead.
Her mother Renee is a single mum to four children, two Boys 18 and 13 and two girls 15 and 19 and she busts her bottom (putting it nicely!) To provide for her 4 children, and has recently started a new job which she will not be able to go back to when she does come home.
Renee is ALWAYS the first to lend a hand to a friend, or stranger when they are in need, no questions asked.
She expects nothing in return, and is a genuine kind hearted woman with everyone elses needs put before her own.

Please help this family out with a small donation to contribute to their rough road ahead.

We wish Brittney all the best with her recovery x
