I am Kevin Angell, a Body Worn Camera Subject Matter Expert, located in Sarasota, Florida. I have 10+ years of law enforcement experience, 4 years military, a 4 year Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and continuing education in law enforcement. I have consulted for several law enforcement agencies nationwide, provided training to Body Worn Camera solutions providers and given dozens of televions and in person interviews on the new technology. I am requesting funds to continue educating the community and special intertest groups such as the NAACP, ACLU and organizations that impact community decisions.
I intend to use the funds ONLY for basic travel, basic hotel accomodations and light meals. I will capture all receipts and post them for review as well as post pictures and blogs regarding all travel and training associated with funds obtained through GoFundMe. Their will be NO funds used to supplement me personally or my salary/income.
I currently have a two hour powerpoint presentation with 15 slides, videos and the hands on experience of manipulating a body worn camera.
The need for funds grow daily as the community demands transparency and as law enforcement implements body camera programs.
Providing this insight and education will increase the trust in law enforcement and give the community a better understanding of day to day law enforcement activites. The goals of this project are to understand these topics:
-History of Law Enforcement Recordings
-Where are Officers caught on camera?
-How did we get here?
-Benefits and Concerns
-Understanding Agency Policies and Procedures
-Understanding State and Federal Laws
-Understanding Review and Redaction
-Media and Public Release
-The BUY IN – who are the decision makers?
-Where is privacy?
-Big Foot? Handling of a Body Worn Camera
