Help us get into a new apartment/home
Donation protected
Hi, we're Carol and Steve Darnell. We were informed recently that the company that owns our apartment complex is not renewing our lease.
My husband is currently unemployed, he was laid-off two weeks before Christmas and is still looking for a new job. He has three children from a previous marriage whom we only get 8 weeks out of the year, a significant chunk of that time is, of course, during the summer. Even though he is unemployed, we are still paying child support every month.
Our lease ends May 31st, 2013, and we usually bring out the children the first week of June. Obviously, if we don't have a stable living situation, we won't be able to bring them out this year. It would be devastating not to see them, for everyone involved. They live 4 states away, so seeing them is usually expensive (but worth it!)
We are looking for another apartment, or, if possible, a home to rent, with the very outside chance of putting down a down payment on one we could buy. But we do not have the funds for first/last month rent, or a down payment and moving costs. We're on a tight budget, and a surprise like this is something that could financially devastate us in an already precarious situation.
We are gathering things together to sell to raise money, as well as weed down things we won't have to move.
