Support Hodor and FeLV Research
Donation protected
Our little Hodor just turned 1 and has been diagnosed with FeLV. We brought him in for lethargy and found out he had severe anemia and needed a blood transfusion to live. The first vet told us we should just go ahead and euthanize him because he wouldn't have long to live. We went ahead with a specialist for another opinion. While he will always have the virus we are waiting to hear if by miracle the anemia is caused by a parasite and not the bone marrow. If it's the parasite we will have extra time with him but he will always have the virus. If it's the bone marrow he might only have a few months. I am starting this GoFundMe because we have already spent 4000+ to keep our boy alive. He's so little and we have another 1 year old who will be lost without him. I hope to get some help covering these medical costs and I also hope to donate half of whatever donations I receive to research for FeLV. This has been an incredibly confusing and heartbreaking experience and I still don't completely understand FeLV. Most shelters don't test cats before adoption because it's too expensive, and there is currently no cure. Our boy most likely was born with this according to the vets. While I would not trade our time with him for anything I hope that in the future there will be treatment to support cats with the virus and save the heartbreak of losing a furry family member.
