Boats for Pasco County Fire Rescue
Kickin Wingz Restaurant of Hudson, FL is launching this campaign.
Pasco County is surrounded by water and prone to flooding. However, the great men and women of Pasco County Fire Rescue do NOT have any boats to render aid.
After The most recent storm hit Pasco County, five civilian volunteers and friends took two 14-foot jon boats to the Elfers area and evacuated all the residents who wanted and needed to escape the quickly rising water. The water reached depths of five feet in some areas with a strong current.
When you call 911 for a medical emergency or rescue, Pasco County Fire Rescue is immediately dispatched to the scene to render medical treatment. If a boat is needed, Pasco County relies on mutual aid from surrounding counties, FWC and the Sheriff’s Office.
The goal is to buy jon boats for the following 6 firehouses in West Pasco County that can be dispatched to respond to flooding or any other water rescues:
Station 10 – Hudson Avenue
Station 21 – 52 & Hicks
Station 11 – Embassy & 19
Station 30 – Massachusetts Ave
Station 17 – Seven Springs
Station 12 – Mile Stretch
This equipment is badly needed and will not just help flood victims, but will allow Pasco County Fire Rescue to respond to all incidents that happen in our canals, channels, lakes, ponds, and rivers – without having to rely on mutual aid from father away.
We spoke with Chief Cassin who says Pasco County Fire Rescue would gladly take donated response boats.
The cost to buy a jon boat, motor, life jackets and waders will be approximately $5,000 per firehouse.
The Goal is to raise $30,000 to cover the equipment and gofundme fees.
quotes are coming in around:
14 Foot Jon Boat 48" Wide $1535
Suzuki 15HP $2,243
Trailer $690
total $4,468.00 plus accessories
Once we reach that goal, we will work with Pasco County Fire Rescue’s chief to make sure we’re buying the equipment that best suits their needs.
Thank you all for helping.
