Give Willie The World

This GoFundMe is a surprise! So Shhh! At Oklahoma City University, we students are very thankful for the staff and administrators that facilitate this prestigious university. But, there is one individual that goes above and beyond with his job. His name is Willie Butler.

Willie Butler is one of the head cooks at OCU's cafe. He has worked at OCU for over ten years and has always been about giving the students what they deserve.

Willie joined the army after leaving Thai childhood home. He served in Saudi Arabia and Germany. Butler’s 12 years of military service caused him to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. Working at OCU has helped his spirits immensely, he said, but it has been difficult.

Willie always deviates away from the regular meal plan that students are given and tends to take special requests. He pays for these deviations out of his own pocket and doesn't ask for anything in return. He has been called the heart of OCU by many students.

Every year, he helps out Gamma Phi Beta (a sorority on campus) with an event they called pancake Palooza which is an event that is during the week of building strong girls. Willie is an emblem at Oklahoma City University.

I made this Go FundMe in the hopes to be able to help him out and give back to him since Hess given us so much. Look below at what some students have to say about Willie:

"I first met willie the summer before my freshman year and it really warmed my heart that he would take time to chat with me about my day or really about anything!"

"My freshman year, my friends and I asked Willie if we could keep some ice cream drumsticks in a freezer in the caf so they wouldn't melt. He happily agreed to hold onto them and hid the ice cream behind veggies so no one else would take them. The next week, Willie came up to us while we were having lunch, and he had bought us more drumsticks. We thanked him and he said, "Anytime. I know a lot of freshmen have a hard time adjusting and need someone to look after them, so I wanna help y'all out as much as I can." For the next 5-6 weeks, Willie brought me and whoever was sitting with me a different dessert every Thursday. He used his own money went out of his way to make us freshmen feel welcome, and I truly appreciate everything he's done."

"Willie never fails to bring a smile on my face. He even asked me specifically what I would like the special pancake to be for the coming weekend and he made sure to make it just for me!"
