END THE VIOLENCE

Honoring Alison Parker & Adam Ward Hello, my name is Robert McCuiston and I am here to tell you about a tragedy you are probably already awared of: the shooting and eventual death of Alison Parker and Adam Ward. If you have not heard about it in the news or read about it in the paper, here is what happened just a short week ago. On August 26, 2015, news reporter Alison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward, employees of CBS affiliate WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, USA, were shot to death while conducting a live television interview near Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Virginia. The news team was interviewing Vicki Gardner, executive director of the local chamber of commerce, when a gunman attacked all three. Parker, age 24, and Ward, age 27 died at the scene and Gardner survived, severely injured. Parker and Ward were the seventh and eighth journalists killed on the job in the United States since 1992.
The gunman was later confirmed to be 41-year old Vester Lee Flanagan III, also known by the professional pseudonym of Bryce Williams, a former reporter at WDBJ. The station fired him for disruptive conduct in 2013. After a manhunt that lasted for almost five hours, Flanagan shot himself during a car chase with police officers and died later at a hospital.
The goal of this campaign is to reach like-minded people for collaboration, raise monies in exchange for rewards that promote awareness of the bigger cause: ending gun violence, serious gun reform, and also spread the word on these two wonderful human beings that left us way too soon. The more people we can get involved the more successful this campaign will be. So this campaign will give you the basics on our efforts and progress. Beyond that we encourage you to ask us questions, donate and get involved. We developed this campaign to give back to the families of the victims and help with preventative measures for our future so that we do not hear similar stories to this one in the future!
Do you ever think about the families left in the aftermath of these shootings?
Do you want to help the families in need but don't know how?
Are you interested in making a long-term solutions for the futureso we don't keep seeing stories of gun violence?
If you answered, "Yes" to any of these questions, you may want to keep reading.........
This Campaign is being put together in order to collect money first and foremost for the families left behind to ease some of the worries they have at this awful time. But I also want to make a tribute to the ones who were taken from us that morning.
CNN recently did an article Reporter Alison Parker saying she was a 24-year-old "Rock Star" reporter who loved Mexican food, whitewater kayaking and dark television characters such as "Breaking Bad's" Walter White.
"The most radiant woman I ever met," in the words of a colleague.
Photographer Adam Ward was 27. Engaged to be married. Vivacious and funny, the sort of person you never saw without a smile, as one college friend said.
Our popular culture reinforces the idea that violence is an inevitable part of our world. This campaign, disputes this and serves to reassess the way we think about gun violence in our country! Help us establish this initiative to serve people in need of a mindful solution. Empower us to make this vision a reality with a pledge to this project today!
More about the Issue
We are all struggling to make sense of what happened to Adam and Alison and to find our own way to comfort the families and community that were shattered by this senseless violence. As the community comes together to heal, so must the nation. Part of our healing must be the conviction that we will do everything in our power to keep tragedies like this from happening again. We must also remember that it's not just the high-profile massacres like the ones at Sandy Hook Elementary or the Aurora movie theater that we must strive to prevent, but the daily drumbeat of death-by-gun that claims 30,000 lives every year. We need to start to reassess our values and attitudes toward gun violence. Leave politics behind today, and think purely about the casualties and their families.
As our country reels from this terrible tragedy, we must vow to change our culture and our policies and to "stop"
this cycle of violence. We should be able to send our children to first grade, pray in our houses of worship, shop in our local malls, and walk through our streets and neighborhoods without being shot. Together we can take action in the memory of those who died and insist that this never happen again.
About Us
I feel, unfortunately, I am uniquely qualified to create and run this campaign as well, become an advocate for the family and fight to end gun violence. I too have lost family and friends through gun violence and know, firsthand the undeniable pain and suffering an event like this cause. It is like nothing anyone can understand until you are faced with this terrible tragedy. Words do not suffice. I have lost friends to gun violence and know the questions that you are left with when someone close is taken to soon. And finally, I too have dealt with my own near death in my own life while battling cancer and while surving; it left me with a unique appreciation for life.
For us to help these families, we need your support!
Your generous pledges will help us get things started in order to realize our goals of giving money to the family and the scholarship funds. It will assist us with the cost of our rewards, fees and violence awareness that we look to spread. More importantly you get the chance to be part of a movement to change our country and the gun violence that is so prevalent. We are committed to continuous improvement so we are always giving people the best possible solutions, we are always looking for ways to end the epidemic of people killing people with guns.
We also will use the funding to:
Give to the families for funeral costs
Give to Adam's scholarship fund that is already established
Give to Alison's scholarship fund that is already established

Old School? No Problem!
For those of us who don't like making donations over the internet, please feel free to contact me via email: [email redacted] and I will provide you with a mailing address to send a check or money order to. This albeit worth every effort, has proven to be one of the hardest things I have ever done. I don't have a million friends to share this with. But, I have the internet and wonderful people like "You" who wish to see this project grow. Whether or not you contribute financially, please use the share tools on this page. Tweeting, sharing on Facebook or any other venues you have at your disposal will greatly enhance our exposure and increase our chances to succeed. I'm asking for 5 minutes of your time, a $5 contribution, and 5 personal e-mails.
