My name is Christopher Calatrello and I work as a therapist for a southern Middle Tennessee community mental health services provider. During the course of my employment, I encounter a number of people who lack basic transportation as well as much in the way of healthy, real-world recreation.
A Bicycle is Freedom is dedicated to raising money to provide bicycles, components, safety equipment, and accessories, and repairs to community mental health agency clients and others in order to maximize independence by providing transportation, develop self-efficacy through achieving competence, and provide healthy recreation.
A bicycle represents freedom because it is a self-directed activity that requires neither license nor permission. A bicycle represents freedom because it provides transportation for persons without automobile or driver's license. A bicycle represents freedom because it enables the individual to engage in necessary travel without relying upon other people who may request some form of compensation or whose ability and willingness to help may be unpredictable and unreliable.
This money will be made available in Lincoln, Franklin, Moore, and Coffee counties to benefit community mental health services clients and others who cannot afford bikes, bike-repair, and basic safety equipment like lights and helmets.
I and potentially numerous others are extremely grateful for any contribution you can make to this effort.
