Keep Our Library Open! Wareham Free Library
Donation protected

Hard to believe that three years later, the library still has to fundraise for operating costs. While it`s sad that the town can`t see the library for the gem it is, we the townspeople need to come together and keep donating so that the library can keep operating.

I keep seeing proof again and again that people care about the library. Even if you can only donate one dollar, please do! If a hundred people donated one dollar each...

We've hit over $1000!!!! Yay! People do care about the library. And as much money as that sounds, it's a drop in the bucket of what the library needs. Keep spreading the word around! Even if everyone donated only a few dollars, it would help a lot!

The library is in serious trouble! Not only is there not enough funding, but the town wants to take away the teensy bit of funding they'd be almost willing to allocate. This is serious! We need to do something to help the library!
Wareham Library May Close!
And this time it doesn't look like there will be anyone or anything that can step in last minute and save it...so we have to.

We are back to square one! It has been said that in the coming budget cuts, the library will be one of the first things closed entirely.
I don't know about anyone else, but I do NOT want to live in a town without a library.
I know this is a difficult financial time for everyone. But at the very very least, please please sign up for the website Goodsearch.com. It's a yahoo search engine that donates a penny to a charity of your choice for every search you make. Friends of the Wareham Free Library is one of those!

Town Meeting Approves Budget that will Likely CLOSE Library
So it isn't quite definite yet, but almost. I can't even imagine the library being closed, having spent many hours there as a kid. It's right across from the Middle and High School, so kids walk over after school all the time. And my sister was so excited because next year she'll be in middle school and able
to do the same. Not to mention all the other kids who go to the library after school, or who want to. As it is, these past couple of years, the summer reading program for kids (and some programs for adults) have been cut back due to budget cuts. And the hours for the library have been all over the place...The teeny mini library is all well and good, but it's teeny. There are a lot less computers, and a lot less books.
Please help keep our library open.
UPDATE June 22: The library IS opening with very reduced hours. But that's only this year. Won't we run into the same trouble next year? And even if we don't plan ahead that far, wouldn't it be to everyone in the community's benefit to raise enough money to extend the library hours? There is also the fact that more funding would mean that the library could have more programs and buy more books...
November 20: The library has started a "buy-a-book" campaign, where you can buy a book and have it say that you were the one who donated it. Those run about $10 on up and can be found in the main library.
