Big Family Tiny Home

Meet the Browning's
Two years ago in 2013 our family suffered a lost of income no one knew would hurt so bad.  My husband had lost his job of 5 years due to economic downsizing. We had to cash out our 401k and all of our savings just to survive our little view of an American Dream. Sadly that didn't last long, we couldn't afford our rent payments in the home we loved, where my son was born.  So we started downsizing right then. Jumping from one minimum wage job to another. Husband finally decided on a new career path and so we set off.  Security was where he felt his pull so we did everything we could to get him armed and licensed.
As most of the world can see the "American Dream" just isn't what it used to be anymore. I grew up with very little so I felt the more I had the less of a void I felt. I was wrong. I have found the more stuff I wanted the more I felt in debt and unworthy I felt. Asking for help to pay the rent is a humbling experience.  Even now we are in a low income 3 story apartment with my 4 children. We have no yard no privacy and no freedom.  Truth be told it breaks my heart we have had to stuggle . I see my children confused  when we decline to do something fun because we can't afford it.  But we are strong and we can do anything as a family.

So as a new  day brings promises of hope, so will I.  We have decided to leave apartment living life and buy a bus to renovate. The kids have decided on bunks and what they want for themselves, and so have we.  Locally we are wanting to purchase a Blue Bird bus in good condition to gut and make a home out of.  Our goal is to be in the bus by spring, and out of our aparment we can't afford.  I am not sure that "living tiny" is popular by nature but possible out of nessesity. My husband and I want a different life for our family. We want to live off the land eventually buy a piece of property and have some animals that will help keep us as self sufficent as possible. I want our kids to leave our home with the kowledge it will take to complete basic things. We want to do all the work ourselves and include our kids in the building process. (If I could be nastalgic for a minute I would love it if we bought land and later down the time frame our kids all built tiny and put their homes up near us.) A mom can dream!

The desire is out there and this is our effort to renovate the American Dream into one of our own. A bus for the Browning's.
