Do-It-Ourselves Fest Lincoln,NE
Donation protected
Do-It-Ourselves Fest (or D.I.O. Fest) is a free, all-ages event happening at SP CE Commons in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th.
(EVENT SCHEDULE BELOW)
Margot Erlandson, Nick Svoboda, and the crew over at SP CE Commons are helping organize and host the 2nd Do-It-Ourselves Fest!
Join us for workshops, discussions, presentations, musical and theatrical performances, fun and play!
All events and workshops are FREE to attend.
Donations are appreciated. This site is a way to donate what you want, when you can, and all funds will go to good use! All of the workshop hosts are volunteering time and experience to share for free. Some workshops require a few minimal supplies and the space being used will need a few things to help facilitate attendance.
For example:
3 canvas banners (about $10/each) = $30.00
big pack of toilet paper = $15.00
portable toilet rental = $300
physical structural issues (dehumidifier,etc) = $500
workshop funds (accessible to workshops if needed) = $500
Helping out SP CE with the rent for a month = $400
All funds not used during DIO Fest 2015 will be saved for 2016!!!
Share your ideas and skills, see new bands, and make new friends all in the name of unifying and strengthening DIY culture in Nebraska.
EVERYBODY is welcome! Kid-friendly activities and on-site childcare will be provided for much of the festival. This is a drug and alcohol-free event.
People are taught in the larger society that the only way to get “legitimate” education is to pay for it. As a part of that system, the expertise of individuals is also dismissed if they don't have certain kinds of (expensive) credentials. Do-It-Ourselves Fest, and skill sharing in communities more broadly, aims to validate the free exchange of information as useful and important.
Everybody is an expert at something! You don't have to be a professional to teach, and you don't have to pay anything to learn!
SP CE Commons is an open community that grows through your participation. Access to tools, resources, and human energy. A safe and welcoming place where creativity and kindness are encouraged.
