Parallels Youth Community Outreach Day
Donation protected
This summer, we present our art exhibit "Parallels":
- Art + Performance + Community Outreach.
In partnership withe Flite Center, a center that helps foster care youth transition into adulthood, we are planning a full day workshop with 25 at risk youth. A day where the focus will be on exposing the youth to the arts, viewing and meeting local artists while touring their work space, have lunch, artists talks with a few local artists, as well as a hands on workshop where these young adults will be creating a writing and art journal that they can keep and use to explore their creativity as well as documents life's achievements. The teens will also be given a completion certificate as a keepsake. One of the main challenges working with these youths that need it the most is TRANSPORTATION. The bulk of the funds being raised will go towards getting a bus that will meet the youth group at their school, transport them to the 1310 Gallery- Sailboat Bend Artists Lofts, pick them up at the end of the day and bring them back to the school.
This event is set for Thursday, August 1 2013.
The breakdown of funds we are trying to raise:
$50 - Lunch
$90 - Composition Notebooks
$10 - Pencils
$150 - Supplies for the workshop (craft supplies to include paper, glue, paints, markers)
$100 - discounted artists fee
$100 - completion certificate creation & frames
>>>> $400 - Bus & bus driver for the day- we didn't reach this goal in time to schedule a bus- so we have a work around of a few amazing people that have volunteered to pick up and carpool.<<<<
It takes a village.
Your contributions will help give these teens the opportunity to not only be exposed to and explore art, but a day focused on their creative self expressing.

About the exhibit:
Look at the world we live in. Our simultaneous existence as a generation binds us together, yet we each diverge on different paths. Our journeys are unique and diverse, yet we co-exist: close in proximity, yet distant, living and transitioning, breathing and traveling together as an expression of the collective self.
The artists in PARALLELS visualize how they are part of a generation that is free to roam and find one's own particular destination of infinite possibilities.
We will be documenting this workshop with pictures and video clips to share.
Please help us bring this artistic experience to these youth in hopes to inspire creativity, self pride, and self expression!
Each donation brings us closer to helping our youth have hope for their future.
Thank you for taking the time.
