"Lucy, would you rather have a puppy or a baby brother?"

9 times out of 10 her answer is a baby brother. Every once in a while a purple pony is thrown in. But every day, without fail, she asks us if she can have a baby brother.


We are the King family, and we want to adopt. It wasn't long after the birth of our beautiful daughter that we wanted to start adding more children to our family. Over 3 years later here we are. Having been to 3 different doctors and specialists doing 20 months of various fertility treatments, endless blood work, paying thousands of dollars, and taking countless negative pregnancy tests, we have concluded that God has another plan for us.


But our hopes of adoption didn't just occur. Shortly after we were married we knew some daywe would be welcoming children into our family through the beautiful blessing of adoption. Somehow in our hearts we felt strongly that God had this in mind for us. As it turns out, now is the time.


We were daunted by the process and all that it entails but nothing was more overwhelming than the expense. We had no idea where we would get the money to pay for this, and it would take many years to save enough to do it on our own. Without any birth mother expenses (which is extremely rare) the rock bottom price of adoption costs over $20,000. On average, birth mother expenses are around $5,000-$6,000. So that puts our costs to around $25,000! We looked into adoption assistance and grants but we have found that families with children are put on the bottom of the list and the chances of receiving any assistance was very rare. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to help lift some of the burden.


Feeling defeated in spending our life savings for fertility procedures that didn't work, and wondering how we would ever be able to pay for adoption, the words came to mind of fellow adoptive families who told us "if adoption is right for you, miracles will happen". That is when the idea of fundraising came to mind.


There are two things we would like for you to consider. The first is to prayerfully talk about this with your family to see if you are willing and able to contribute to our cause. It doesn't matter if it is 50 cents, $50, or more every amount matters and is greatly appreciated.
