Eldery dog medical payments

I adopt older dogs, the ones no one wants or are able to continue caring for due to health or other reasons. I would more than happily adopt a houseful of these seniors except for the outrageously high medical and veterinarian costs. I can afford their food, monthly medications, toys and supplements. What kills me is the veterinarian bills and because these are older dogs, I run into thousands of dollars every few months. I am a semi retired dog trainer so I am not swimming in extra funds, but I can't stand letting these dogs not have good golden years.

The latest addition I want to adopt is a 14 year old dog that worked as a hearing service dog, and now his owner is too old and frail to continue to care for him She is afraid she may die soon and her dog would be left to an uncertain future.

I am not emotionally ready for another dog as one of my two senior dogs died a few weeks ago, and the cost of his emergencies, diagnostics and care were about $5,000. My other dog is 12 years old and she is currently healthy, but she is old and will eventually need more veterinarian care beyond the usual yearly check-ups and shots.

Although I am not really ready yet, this ex-service dog needs a home now. So, I will bring him home. I just need help with his current and future medical needs. Because his owner was not able to get him to veterinarian visits, he has fungus that has made his paws swollen and red, he has infections in his ears and paws, and he has parasites and fleas. All of this his prior owner and I are taking care of as she was immediately willing to have me take him to a vet and she paid what she could toward the bill, but I'm very worried about his future medical needs. His blood work is coming in this week and that may mean more money will be needed immediately.

These are wonderful older dogs and I would very much appreciate any help you can give. You may not be able to save an older dog, but you can help me give them a good retirement.

Hello. My name is Leah Ward and the ex-service dog she is adopting is my dog, Rudy. I had a recent rapid downturn in my health and I have been looking for weeks for a new home for Rudy. Unfortunately, I live in a Senior apartment complex and many of my neighbors are hesitant to take on a pet for both health reasons and for financial reasons. I called muttsville.org for senior dogs and discovered they have an exceptionally long waiting list. Someone in my building called Beverly and she responded to my need to find a good home for Rudy.

She immediately took him to a vet for me and I was horrified to discovered he had so many health problems, but fortunately for him, he now has a home where his health concerns will be dealt with in a timely fashion. She bought over her dog today (in the picture above) and she is a sweetie. Her and Rudy got along just fine when they took their first walk together, and Beverly has decided to adopt Rudy. Rudy (short for Rudolph Valentino) is a lover and I'm not surprised she made that decision. And I am grateful. She is taking a tremendous worry off my mind by giving my boy a good home. He has been my constant companion and hearing dog for almost 14 years and he truly deserves a good home.

Any help you can give will be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you.
