Granny's Ride to Clay

I am in the process of planning a VERY large endeavored and I needed to let you in on my journey as it begins, since the beginning actually started back on Aug 23rd , while I was laying in Arlington Cemetery.
I have done lots of “soul” searching over let last few months, even years, and as we grow we learn the things that are important aren’t so much the stuff we have collected over the years but the memories we have in our cash to pull outs wen we need them for strength to go on. It is the total of our family that gives us that ability to finish strong with a cash of smiles and happy memories to go on.
Out of necessity I have been doing some downsizing. Now admittedly it was not initiated by my own doing, but never the less it has been a good thing. It has be this work that has forced me to see many things in a different light. Some for the good, some were not so good but all were enlightening. MOST OF ALL. I HAVE LEARNED TO NOT ONLY LIKE BUT LOVE MYSELF!
I raised each of my children to best of my ability with the information I had at hand at the time. I love each of them to no end and like wise ALL of their children. I would like no more than to be able to be with each of them every single day. Of course life events will not allow that. So that being said it is my wish that we as a family make a effort to reconnect. I plan to “re-connect” with my TX family. This is the hard part, because it is my wish that each of my children will assist me. and ….
let me get back to my idea.
As I left Arlington back in August 2014. I got on that parking lot they call Interstate 95 for about 3 exits. where I got off was Hwy 17. I realized how beautiful Our country is and how fast we speed by it. Then that 17 was going to take me home….it only took me a couple minutes to know what I was going to do after that so… here it is…
It is my plan that once I have enough leave saved at work, baring no more major surgeries putting me out for any length of time, it should be sometime in the late spring… to ride my bicycle from home to Texas to see my babies..
I have received tenitive medical clearance from my doctors. I have sought legal counsel just to make sure ducks were in a row. and got all my needed personal documents done .
I wish to ride solo. I will only be able to ride between 60 to 100 miles a day, that will depend on the route.
I want to raise monies for Muscular dystrophy in some form. Tarra, my eldest daughter can help me figure out which foundation/organization.
I also want to start a blog/ web page to help with donations... and direct links to the organizations web sites. I have no idea how to do that,, as I said this is going to be a journey. The route will have to be researched thoroughly for hazards, inclines, altitude, TRAFFIC and weather. Anything else we could think of that could be a problem.
The riding is really the least of my worries.
