Leadership Steamboat, Coffee Cart Project
Tax deductible
What is the Coffee Cart Project?
Leadership Steamboat is working directly with Steamboat Springs High School students to implement a check-in program where a small group of students will stop into participating classrooms to offer free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and simply ask their peers, "how are you feeling?". Beverage sleeves will have printed check boxes next to several broad emotions. Students will be able to place a check mark next to the emotion they are feeling that day, and have an opportunity to discuss anything they may be going through at that moment. Each check-in will take an estimated 10-15 minutes of class time and will occur weekly. Our target launch date is Monday, April 8th 2019.
Mission
To promote a culture of caring in local schools by providing students with a platform to address mental health by asking the question, "How are you feeling?"
Why A Coffee Cart?
The idea was created through the Big Idea Project, and implemented in the Highlands Ranch High School. The project was brought to the attention of this year's Leadership Steamboat class by Partner's In Routt County. Here's a video of what the Highlands Ranch program looks like.
Where Will Your Donation Go?
We're raising money for the Coffee Cart Project in congruence with Partners in Routt County, a local nonprofit whose mission is to build resilient youth in Routt County by creating and supporting meaningful mentoring relationships. All donations will go directly to Funding the Coffee Cart and will help both get this project off the ground, and keep it operating for years to come. Any donation will help make an impact.
Your donations will directly help us:
- Purchase necessary supplies to construct a coffee cart
- Purchase beverages, cups, sleeves, and lids
- Train mentors who will be operating the cart
- Ensure that students struggling with tough issues have a someone who will listen and prevent risk of harm
Your donations will directly help you:
- Contribute to a healthy youth population in Routt County
- Create a stronger and healthier community in Routt County
- Earn a tax deduction by making a GoFundMe contribution to the Coffee Cart project run by Steamboat Leadership and Partners of Routt County
- Earn an Enterprise Tax Credit through the Steamboat Springs Chamber of Commerce by making a donation to the Chamber by check for $250 or more
What is Leadership Steamboat?
Since 1992, the Steamboat Springs Chamber and Colorado Mountain College have facilitated Leadership Steamboat, a leadership training program organized to develop leaders in business and community service. Each group is required to complete a group project by course completion. The 2018-19 Leadership Steamboat class has decided to pilot a mentoring program in the SSHS. We’re proud to join a long list of alumni in our community who have initiated meaningful change in our community - from Yampa Valley Gives Day to the community garden on Oak Street to recycling bins on Lincoln Ave.
