Daniel's Road to Recovery

Today I am reaching out to the community in
search of support for Daniel, one of my brothers. He is the lead singer for the band Sonámbulo Psicotropical (one of the
top Costa Rican bands at the moment, check them out!).
Music and performance (street circus, theater) is the path which he has chosen to share his gifts. On this path he has, along with friends, manage to make and incredible positive impact in the lives of many individuals as well as in Costa Rica's cultural scene.
A while ago Daniel was diagnosed with Syringomyelia:
'is a disorder in which a cyst forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, expands and elongates over time, destroying a portion of the spinal cord from its center and expanding outward... Damage to the spinal cord often leads to progressive weakness in the arms and legs, stiffness in the back, shoulders, arms, or legs, and chronic, severe pain. Other symptoms may include headaches, a loss of the ability to feel extremes of hot or cold and loss of bladder and other functions.' (www.ninds.nih.gov)
Syringomyelia has several possible causes, many of them unknown which is Daniel's case.
Treatment:
There are two surgery options, one of them is extremely invasive, so after a lot of research, it was decided the second option was the only option. This surgery could save his life and is done in Barcelona, Spain by The Institut Chiari & Syringomyelia & Scoliosis de Barcelona (ICSEB).
The cost of the surgery, airplane tickets & stay for Daniel & our mom will come to a cost of around $30, 000.
Surgery is scheduled for November 19, 2013. We are hoping to raise the money by November 14, 2013.
Any donation to help us cover this life-saving surgery will mean everything to me, my family, friends and specially my brother. He cannot wait to get back on a stage with the band and share his music with the world again.
