Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Hi my name is Caven, I am a son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. I also consider myself as a faithful child of God. I became sick in 2008 with diabetes. A few years later I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. I have been on dialysis since August 2014. Getting regular dialysis treatment, ususally three times a week for four hours at a time, will help my kidneys do their job and keep me alive, but a transplant would offer me a more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier and a more normal life. A transplant would also give me more time to do the fun things I enjoy most, like spending time with family and friends. Currently, I am on the kidney transplant list in UNC Chapel Hill.
However, finding a kidney for a transplant is not easy. Just ask the 100, 000+ people on the waiting list for a deceased donor kidney like me. Time is not on our side. Some wait for years, many die while waiting. The average wait time is five years or more for a kidney from a decease donor.
A kidney transplant costs approximately $250, 000. Even with a health insurance, I will face significant medical expenses related to receiving a kidney transplant. For the rest of my life, I will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2, 000 to $5, 000 per month, and they are as critical to survival as the transplant itself. I have set up this gofundme account as part of my fundraiser to help with anticipated cost.
I am asking everyone that reads this, make copies, and share this link, www.gofundme.com/4yuuts8 whatever it takes! I am ready to get the ball rolling on fundraisers! I need as much help as I can get! Thanks!
