Hello everyone,
For those of you who don't know Liz, she is a 29 year old stunning and empowered young woman with a beautiful family; a wonderful partner, four young step children and their new baby girl, Ivy.
Devastatingly, she has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma. It spread throughout her body, through her lymphatic system, during pregnancy. The large tumours in her abdomen grew rapidly after Ivy's birth and are now inoperable. The pre-scans have also shown that not only does Lizzee have tumours in her lungs, kidneys, breasts and liver, she now also has them on her brain and is no longer allowed to drive. Liz started her first session of Immunotherapy on the 1st of August; one of four sessions receiving the new drug OPVIDA. The combination of 2 drugs - ipilimumab and nivolumab.
The next few months are crucial to Liz's healing. From all reports she is going to need, rest, sleep, rest, normal life, rest, light exercise, rest, repeat. She will now be in a war between building up her body into a hyperimmune frontline system; diminishing the cancer throughout her body, while at the same time, staying as well as she can to be able to cope with another session until all four are complete. Basically, her body will tell her when she has had enough sessions and the side effects will be severe but unique enough that we can't predict what will happen next. Her healthy diet will assist her in keeping bugs and toxins away and will keep her mind and body, strong and well.
Lizzee has started a large pictorial journal and is serious about her new akaline and organic mind/body journey. Fiona Stanley Hospital have also been tremendous in supporting Lizzee's frame of mind and in getting her the latest, most successful treatment, as quickly as possible. Her challenges are enormous but her team is large. You might want to join her Facebook group and join hands with us as a strong positive community.
