Missions Trip to Philippines
Donation protected
In March of 2014, I will be going to the Philippines for a medical and children's missions trip and will be raising funds in order to go.
This trip will include traveling to a remote island & ministering to the people after the devastation of the recent Typhoon. More than 4,000 have been reported dead.
As a busy working mom of three, I've been asked why should I go and if I do go, why raise funds for it.
I'd love to use the generic answer of "God told me to," but I'm guessing a better explanation goes here. For a long answer, check out my blog post: http://heatherriggleman.com/2013/11/interrupted-by-the-invisible/
Otherwise, a concise answer would be that I've always wanted to go to the Philippines, it's on my life list on top of the fact God has been nailing me from all sides to "Feed his sheep." With John 21:15.
I thought I was serving his sheep with my gifts and abilities by writing encouraging posts, speaking to moms, mentoring moms and giving a hug or two. I was waiting for the next step in my so called Christianized suburbia life when God made it crystal clear I wasn't feeding his sheep in all capacities.
For the longest time, my world felt dry and parched until God shook with some personal struggles. He opened my eyes to the fact he doesn't want me to interpret this passage but take it literally as should every other Christian living in the U.S.
God has blessed us with talents like writing, praying, the ability to make money and here's the things--if you happen to be make a cool 50 grand a year"”you are insurmountably blessed to be living in the top two percent of the world in terms of socioeconomic status.
How can we ignore those in need? How can we ignore God when he says, Who will I send? My response has been, "Send me." And this is something he's been planning for me.
I don't want it to be on my plate when I get to heaven and stand before him and he asks whether or not I answered his call"”and not just in serving him with my gifts.
The cost of the trip is $2500.00 and I am in the process of raising $1250 by December 30th and the rest by Feb of 2014. I am also making sacrifices and working extra hours to build my funds.
If you feel led to give, please do. Any amount is a blessing and I am confident the Lord is prompting family, friends and perfect strangers to give.
For those who wish to donate $50.00 or more, I will send a signed copy of my book, Mama Needs A Time Out. Simply include your mailing address.
For those of you who wish to give and would rather send funds to the church you can. Simply put my name in the memo and send funds to:

Now here comes the single most important thing anyone can do, while I am in need to raising funds to go which I believe God will supply, I also believe a missions trip cannot be a success without prayer partners. I'm asking specifically for prayers that God uses me as he wills, that my desires become his desires, that he is able to refine my spirit and prepare me to be poured out to those who are hungry, cold and tired.
I'm looking for someone to pray for me and our team while on the trip. I'm looking forward to what God is doing through YOU!
THANK YOU!!!
