Hearing Loss Awareness Through Theater
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kimberly Parker. I wote, produce, and perform a one-woman show (on my hearing loss journey) Had I not taken myself on in this HUGE way, I doubt that I ever would have started this monumental adventure...it's been a dream of mine for years...and a roller coaster ride!!!
I was born with a genetic "bi-lateral/progressive" hearing loss that went undetected and untreated for half of my life. Before I turned 40, I was deaf. Less than 3 years ago, I underwent surgery for a "Cochlear Implant". I am hearing better than ever with "electronic hearing" and my world...my life... is forever changed.
"Lost in Sound" is the story of my journey through hearing loss, deafness and hearing again with the help of technology. It is a mix of narrative and vignettes, interwoven with musical solos. Often times funny, other times sad, it is informative, thought provoking and inspirational. It is a story that was "begging" to be told ...a story that you will be thinking about and talking about long after the show is over. A story that will raise awareness of the silent epidemic that is hearing loss.
I have performed 2 staged readings of my play on to sold out houses, it was a great success. People are raving about it. Tonight I take the stage for my Seattle debut and I am so excited! My next step is to tour with my play and bring it to thousands of people acrross the country. Please help me help others and fund raise to take this provocative play to the next level.
I'm raising funds to pay for travel and production costs. Help me shed light on the invisable conditon of hearing loss to change perceptions and change the world. Thanks for your support!
